Quanzhou Yan is an accomplished pianist who has showcased his talents in many concerts and solo recitals across various cities, as well as national and international festivals.
After completing his Bachelor's degree from Rostov State Rachmaninov Conservatory in Russia under the guidance of Professor Rimma Skolohodova, Quanzhou Yan furthered his academic pursuits and earned a Master of Music degree from Texas Christian University, with a full scholarship mentored by Dr. Tamás Ungár. In recognition of his abilities, Mr. Yan was accepted into the prestigious Artist Diploma program which is supported by full scholarship at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel-Aviv, where he is currently studying under the tutelage of Professor Arie Vardi. Concurrently, he is working on his doctorate dissertation.
Mr. Yan has received acclaim for his musicianship and has been awarded top awards in several competitions, including the first prize in the Bakhchiyeva Piano Competition in Russia, the first prize in the 10th “A Step Towards Mastery” International Piano Competition in Russia, and the first prize in the Semper Music International Competition in Italy. He has also been recognized as the winner of the Music Teachers National Association – Steinway Young Artist Piano Competition in the south-central division for both 2020 and 2021.
Participating in several international festivals has been a significant source of enrichment for Quanzhou Yan's musical training. Notably, he has been accepted into the Semper Music International Festival in 2018, the PianoTexas International Festival in 2019 and 2021, the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival in 2022, Aspen Music Festival and School in 2023, and Pianofest in the Hamptons in 2024, where he received full scholarship and instruction from globally renowned pianists such as Pascal Rogé, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Jerome Lowenthal, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Stephen Hough, and Julian Martin.
Additionally, Mr. Yan has achieved success as a soloist, winning the Texas Christian University concerto competition and performing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the TCU Orchestra under the baton of Alexander Fokkens. He has also created a cadenza for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.21, which he performed with the Rostov Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Alexander Mileikovsky.
As a collaborative pianist, Quanzhou has had the privilege of performing with many other vocalists, instrumentalists, ensembles, and choirs. He holds a graduate assistantship in accompanying at the TCU School of Music and was honored with the Solomon Award in Accompanying.
