Gabriel Kwok

Gabriel Kwok was born in Hong Kong and studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Guy Jonson and later with Louis Kentner in London. A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in London, he is Visiting Professor at the Shenzhen Arts School, Xian Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Wuhan Conservatory of Music and China Conservatory of Music in China.

Gabriel Kwok has given masterclasses internationally and served on the faculty of many institutions, summer schools and festivals. He has been a jury member on many international competitions including the Rome, Vianna da Motta, Gina Bachauer, Hong Kong, China, Hilton Head, Minnesota Piano-e, Darmstadt Chopin, Rio de Janerio BNDES, James Mottram, China Shenzhen Piano Concerto, Geneva and Bayreuth-Weimar Liszt International Piano Competitions.

He has collaborated with many distinguished artists in concerts, among whom were Pierre Amoyal, Alexander Ballie, Siegfried Behrend, Alan Civil, Eugene Fodor, Lu Siqing, Albert Markov, Yuri Mazurkevich, Clarence Myerscough, Roberta Peters, Qian Zhou, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Jenny Ren, Aaron Rosand, Nathaniel Rosen, Rohan de Saram, Hansjoerg Schellenberger, Denis Shapovalov, Jeffrey Solow, Leon Spierer, Richard Stolzman, Wang Jian and Xue Wei.

Professor Kwok has been Head of Keyboard Studies at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts since 1989. In 2014, Professor Kwok was awarded Medal of Honour from the Hong Kong Government for his contribution to piano education in Hong Kong.

 

郭 嘉 特 於 香 港 出 生 , 就 讀 於 英 國 倫 敦 皇 家 音 樂 學 院 ， 師 事 佳 鍾 遜 ， 其 後 在 倫 敦 隨 路 易 士 堅 拿 學 習 。二 零 零 三 年 被 推 選 為 英 國 皇 家 音 樂 學 院 院 士 。 郭 氏 現 為 深 圳 藝 術 學 校 、 西 安 音 樂 學 院 、星 海 音 樂 學 院 、 武 漢 音 樂 學 院 及 中 國 音 樂 學 院 客 席 教 授。郭 氏 多 次 被 邀 請 在 世 界 各 地 著 名 音 樂 學 府 、 夏 令 營 、 音 樂 節 主 持 大 師 班 。

他 又 曾 在 多 項 比 賽 中 擔 任 評 審 ，其 中 包 括 意 大 利 羅 馬、 葡 萄 牙 維 納 莫 特、 美 國 真 娜 巴 侯 雅 、 香 港 、 中 國 、 美 國 希 爾 頓 島 、 美 國 明 尼 蘇 達 鋼 琴 e 、 德 國 達 姆 施 塔 特 蕭 邦 、 巴 西 BNDES 、 英 國 詹 姆 斯 莫 特 拉 姆、中 國 深 圳 協 奏 曲、瑞 士 日 內 瓦 及 德 國 拜 羅 伊 特 - 威 瑪 李 斯 特 國 際 鋼 琴 比 賽 。 郭 氏 經 常 在 音 樂 會 中 擔 任 獨 奏 和 伴 奏 ， 與 多 位 著 名 演 奏 家 合 作 ， 其 中 包 括 艾 莫 雅 、 貝 利 、 貝 爾 倫 、 斯 維 爾 、 科 特 、 呂 思 清、 馬 哥 夫 、 馬 沙 高 維 治 、 米 亞 斯 哥 夫 、 貝 特 斯 、 錢 舟 、 雷 波 爾 、 任 蓉 、 羅 珊 德 、 盧 信 、 杜 沙 霖 、 舒 倫 堡 格、 沙 波 瓦 洛 夫 、 蘇 奧 盧 、 史 派 拿 、 史 圖 斯 曼 、 王 健 及 薛 偉 。

一 九 八 九 年 起 ，郭 教 授 為 香 港 演 藝 學 院 鍵 盤 樂 系 主 任 。 二 零 一 四 年 獲 香 港 政 府 頒 授 榮 譽 勳 章。
