Tom Liu currently resides in New York City, where he attends the Collegiate School in the 10th grade. He began studying the piano at the age of 6 with Esther Chung Marks of Port Jefferson Station, Long Island in 2013. Tom has rapidly developed into a fine young artist who has a passion for making music at the piano. He has performed in many recitals and has received numerous honors in the short time that he has been studying.

Tom was accepted into the prestigious and highly competitive Juilliard Pre- College program in 2016 by Dr. Veda Kaplinsky. Currently, Tom is studying with Dr. Veda Kaplinsky and Dr. Yiheng Yang at the Juilliard School.

Tom was declared the winner of the MTNA Eastern Division Performance Competitions Junior Piano Winner. In addition, he was awarded a full scholarship in the Chopin Foundation Scholarship Program 2022, where he will prepare for the National Chopin Piano Competition of the United States, which is held in Miami, Florida, every five years. He also won the 2022 Juilliard pre-college Nordmann and Bachauer Piano Scholarship Competition, and he was awarded the Nordmann prize. Most recently, he won first place in the senior division of the Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition 2022.
