Elsie Lu is a grade 12 Magee Secondary School SPARTS program student from Vancouver Canada. She began studying piano with Mrs. Rada Bukhman and is currently a pupil of Dr. Sasha Starcevich.

After winning the American Protégé Competition, Elsie attained the opportunity to perform in Carnegie hall at the age of nine. Since then, she has been the recipient of numerous awards including 1st place at the Canimex Canadian Music Competition, VII Paderewski Piano Competition, 2022 San Francisco Articial Piano Competition, Steinway Canada Young Artist Competition, and top prizes at the 6th NW International Piano Ensemble Competition, 2021 Chicago International Music Competition, and 50th SYAMFA concerto competition.

In 2022, Elsie received the Fazioli Trophy and Scholarship at the CDMF festival and gold medals at the Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival, which earned her an invitation to compete in the Canada West Performing Arts Festival where she won first place as a representative of BC province. Most recently, Elsie was given the Jury Discretionary Award at the 2022 Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition and participated in the prestigious Gina Bachauer Festival as one of the six festival students chosen through an international screening.

Elsie has appeared in both Europe and the States with various orchestras including the Bruensis Virtuosi, Orchestra of MusicFest Perugia, Bellevue Symphony and Philharmonia Northwest. From attending numerous music festivals, she has had the pleasure to engage in masterclasses with renowned professors such as Richard Goode, Robert McDonald, Jerome Lowenthal, Ursula Oppens, Boris Slutsky, Alexander Kobrin, and more.

Apart from music, Elsie engages in other mediums of art. One of her poems was chosen through a contest and published in the book Intuition and several of her paintings were published in The Magic Link by Rada Bukhman.
