Shaoyong Wang was born in 2007 in Beijing, and learned piano at the age of 4. In 2019, he was admitted to the piano department of Tianjin Juilliard School, where he has been studying with Prof. Alvin Zhu.

He gave his first recital at school at the age of 14. In May 2021, he was invited by the Steinway House in Beijing to for Alvin Zhu’s students’ concert. During his studies, he also received master classes from Arie Vardi, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Boris Slutsky, Andrew Tyson, Yang Yunlin, Bao Huiqiao.

Shaoyong won many awards in major competitions at home and abroad. Including:
1st prize in the 2022 VII Future Stars International Piano Competition
3rd prize in the Young Euregio Piano Award International Piano Competition Bronze Award in the of the 24th Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition
3rd prize in the 7th Paderewski International Piano Competition 3rd prize in the 2022 IPPA Coreno International Piano Competition
3rd prize in the 2022 Pacific Stars International Piano Competition
4th Prize in the China Finals of the 30th International Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth.

He is also a participant of numerous international competitions and festivals, including:
Semi-finalist of the 2023 Singapore International Junior Piano Competition
11th Tchaikovsky International Youth Music Competition
Group B of the 4th Zhuhai International Mozart Competition
2022 Tianjin International Piano Festival and among others.

Besides music, he also likes to watch movies and enjoy good food.
