Currently, Katherine is the student of Prof. Albert Tiu of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of the National University of Singapore. She recently got admitted to Juilliard Pre-college, and will move to New York City this fall to pursue the piano study under prof. Hung-Kuan Chen.
Katherine has just won the First Prize in the Junior Category of the 4th Jeune Chopin International Piano Competition 2025 in Lugano, Switzerland. This competition is under the patronage of Martha Argerich and the Polish National Fryderyk ChopinInstitute in Warsaw (NIFC), with Martha Argerich as main jury.
Katherine’s talent and dedication to classical piano started when she was 4, She is the prize winner of many competitions locally and internationally. This is the second time that she has entered the PianoTexas Festival and Academy, she is also the prizewinner of the 2024 PianoTexas Concerto Competition, the 2025 Singapore International Youth piano competition, the 2023 Nashville International Chopin PianoCompetition and the 2023 the 11th Steinway China Final in Tianjin Juilliard.
Katherine has performed in Carnegie Hall as well as other halls in USA, Europe, and Asia. In both 2023 and 2024 she has performed with orchestras in Italy, she also performed with the Fort Worth Symphony at the Van Cliburn Hall in 2024.
She had masterclasses with world-renowned pianists and pedagogues such as Arie Vardi, Noriko Ogawa, Ilana Vered, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Hung Kuan Chen, John Perry, Asaf Zohar, Ksenia Nosikova, Ian Jones, Alexandre Moutouzkine, Congyu Wang etc.
Katherine masters English, French and Chinese. Her passions, in addition to piano, including math olympiads, chess playing, arts and crafts, she also enjoys crocheting stuffed animals and spending time with friends.
