Efren Liu

Born in San Jose, California, in 2015, Efren Liu is a talented young pianist who began his musical journey at the age of four under the guidance of Mr. Ory Shihor. Demonstrating exceptional promise, Efren has earned numerous accolades and captivated audiences with his performances.

At just eight years old, Efren was invited to perform at two prestigious venues: the Solitar Mozarteum in Salzburg and Carnegie Hall in New York City. His passion for music extends beyond classical repertoire, as he enjoys exploring various genres, including jazz, pop, and blues. Efren is dedicated to sharing the joy of music and dreams of becoming a pianist who inspires others through the transformative power of music.

Efren’s achievements are remarkable. In 2023, he won the following distinctions:

  • 1st Prize in the Golden Swan International Competition Piano Solo Group A (Bay Area)
  • Most Potential Prize in the Final Round in Washington, D.C.
  • First Prize and Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize in the 2023 International Music
  • Competition “Salzburg”Grand Prize Virtuoso
  • First Prize and Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize in the 2023 Golden Classical Music

Continuing his success, Efren achieved further recognition in 2024:

  • First Prize in the International Vienna Piano Competition
  • Gold Medalist (Youth, Age 9) in the Seattle International Piano Competition
  • Bronze Prize in the San Francisco International Piano Competition
  • 1st Place in the United States International Music Competition
  • 2nd Place at the 32nd U.S. Open Music Competition (Showcase Piano Solo Elementary 3)

Efren also participated in the 2024 C’est Bon Music Academy Camp, and attended the student concert to perform quintet at Barbro Osher Hall in San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he enjoyed collaborating in chamber music ensembles and forming meaningful connections with fellow musicians. He found great value in working toward shared musical goals and honing his skills through systematic lessons from master instructors, which deepened his understanding and perception of music.

Outside of music, Efren has a wide range of interests, including reading, writing, skiing, and mathematics.
