
Joseph Cai is a nine-year-old young pianist currently studying at the ISF Academy in Hong Kong.
He joined the Junior Music Program of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts at the age offiveand is now studying piano with Professor Gabriel Kwok and Dr. Chang Tao, as well as composition with Ms. Poly Ng.
At the age of eight, Joseph obtained the Trinity LTCL Piano Diploma with Distinction. His recent achievements include the 1st Prize and the Mayor’s Award at the 32nd International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia in 2025, the 2nd Prize of the Gold Medal Award (Age 23 and under) at the 77th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in 2025, and 1st Prize of the Junior Exhibitioner Award (Age 12 and under) at the 76th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in 2024. He was also a concerto competition winner at PianoTexas 2025 and a prize winner of the Mozarteum International Summer Academy 2024.
Joseph made his concerto debut at the age of six and has performed Mozart piano concertos and Beethoven’s early piano concertos with orchestras worldwide, including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Hofburg Orchestra, Berlin Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of the United Kingdom, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of Zabrze. He has appeared in major venues such as the Philharmonie Berlin, Musikverein Vienna, the Harris Concert Hall in Aspen and the Solitar at Mozarteum Salzburg. Joseph gave a Mozart and Chopin solo recital in Shenzhen in 2025, and performed the Shostakovich piano concerto No.2 with HK Phil in 2026.
