Josephine Chow

Sixteen-year-old pianist Josephine Chow is a junior at Westwood High School in Austin, Texas. Shebegan her piano studies at age five and is currently a student of Alexander Malikov and AndreiTcymbalistenko. Josephine finds deep joy and comfort in performing, a passion she strives to sharewith every audience.

She is a prize winner of the 2024 TMTA Performance Contest, the 2024 Manhattan International Music Competition, and the 2025 Juanita Miller Concerto Competition.

Josephine was also the Texas state winner of the 2023–2024 MTNA Junior Piano Competition and a recipient of the 2025–2026 Chopin Foundation Scholarship. Most recently, she was selected as a 2026Butler Texas Young Master.

Josephine has participated in prestigious festivals, including PianoTexas and the Texas State International Piano Festival, and has performed in masterclasses for world-renowned pianists such asYoheved Kaplinsky, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, and Boris Slutsky. At age 13, she made her orchestral debutperforming Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Las Colinas Symphony. She subsequently performedBeethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Starlight Symphony in 2024 and Rachmaninoff’s PianoConcerto No. 2 with the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra as the winner of their 2025 Young ArtistCompetition.

Committed to community service, Josephine frequently performs at senior living centers and fundraising concerts for the Food Lounge in Austin. She also served as the accompanist for the LongYin Choir, promoting Chinese culture through music. Outside of piano, Josephine enjoys watching K-dramas, baking, and spending time with her family.
