
Leonardo Zhou started his music journey with Irina Akhrin at age 6, and now studies piano with Dr. Oksana Ejokina. Leo is passionate about music, and it is his joy to play piano. In 2018, at the age of eight, he made his debut with the orchestra at the Perugia Music Festival in Italy. In 2022 and 2024, he performed as a soloist with the Cascade Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Miropolsky.
Leo actively participates in various piano competitions. He has won many honors including gold medals in Northwest Chopin Festival of 2019-2020, first places in the2018 Perugia Music Festival, the Eastside Scholarship competition of 2018- 2022,the Fujairah international competition for 2020, the grand prize for the PianoOnline Forum of 2021, 1st place in the WSMTA Outstanding Artist Piano Competition: Junior Division, of 2022, and the Judith Thiel Artist Award for Piano 2023.
Leo has attended masterclasses with professors such as Ilana Vered, Alan Chow, John Perry, and Boris Slutsky. Besides piano, Leo also enjoys many other activities such as math, coding, reading, and chess.
