Crystal Cheng

Crystal Cheng, age 15, is a scholarship student of John McCarthy in the Pre-College Division at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She attended Curtis Summerfest 2020 Young Artist Program and also 2018 and 2019 John Perry Academy summer festival. She is honored to have worked with John Perry, Dmitry Rachmanov, Jean-David Coen, Mina Perry, Andrew Park, Peter Miyamoto, Amy Yang, Natalie Zhu, Alan Chow, Yoshikazu Nagai, Chun-Chieh Yen, Sasha Starcevich, Ruth Slenczynska, Yukio Yokoyama and Boris Slutsky. She has performed in Taiwan as first prize winner of the Taiwan Piano Competition, and has appeared in New York’s Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall. Crystal was selected to represent the Pre-College Division at a special private recital in SFCM. She also performed at Northern California 2019 and 2020 Junior Bach Festival. Crystal has received awards prizes in Lancaster International Piano competition, MTAC Piano Concerto Solo Competition (North Region) Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition, Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition, Pacific Music Society Competition, Enkor International Piano Competition, Great Composer Competition, American Protégé International Piano Competition, US Open Music Competition, CAPMT Honors Competition, and Thera Rabinowitch Competition. Crystal is a 9th grader at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino. She enjoys reading, writing, and playing cello in the string orchestra at her school.
