Ellen Foreman

Ellen Foreman (15) is a sophomore at Kolbe Academy. She studies with Peter Steigerwald in San Antonio, Texas, and Victor Rosenbaum at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, where she also participates in the A. Ramon Rivera Senior Piano Seminar. She has won top prizes at the Steinway and Sons Junior Competition, the Texas Public Radio Young Talent Competition, the Junior Tuesday Musical Club Competition, and the J.K. Hodges Contemporary Competition. In addition, she has taken masterclasses and lessons with several renowned pianists including Olga Kern, Simone Dinnerstein, Pavlina Dokovska, Roberto Poli, Bradley Bolen, Terry Lynn Hudson, Jani Parsons, and Zoya Shuhatovich. Ellen has performed in venues such as the Carnegie Hall and the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. Last January, she was invited to be on the Junior Jury for the Gurwitz International Piano Competition. Outside of piano, she enjoys reading, composition, and mathematics. She is co-captain of the Spiritual Life Club, senior contributor of the Newsletter Club, editor of the JTMC Newsletter, and a board member of H.O.P.E (Harmonies of Pianists Everywhere). In the past, she has won state and national awards in mathematics, Latin, and essay writing. Ellen is a member of Duke TIP, Johns Hopkins CTY, and Mensa.
