Matthew Scott

Matthew Scott, 13, lives in Lewisville, Texas and is a student of Konstantyn Travinskyy and Professor Gabriel Sanchez. He began formal piano training at age four with Christina Kim. He received 1st Prize at the Steinway Junior Piano Competition in June 2018; 1st Place in the 2019 and 2020 Fort Worth Solo Piano Competition; Grand Prize, 1st place, and 2nd place awards at the 2019 Carmel Klavier International Piano Competition; Top four in Texas 2019 MTNA Junior Piano Competition; 2nd place in the 2020 Vernell Gregg Concerto Competition; Special Recognition in the 2020 Weatherford College International Piano Competition; Finalist in the 2020 Princeton Festival; 1st Prize in the 2020 Piano League International; 3rd prize in the 2021 Vernell Gregg Concerto Competition; Honorable Mention with Superior ratings in the 2021 Baylor/Waco Piano Competition; 2nd Place in the 2021 Dallas Symphonic Festival Competition, Concerto Division; Finalist in the 2021 Chopin Avenue Piano Competition. Matthew has had the privilege of private master classes with Professor Vladimir Viardo (Cliburn First Prize Winner - 1973), Dr. Baruch Meir of Arizona State University, Dr. Phoenix Park-Kim of Indiana Wesleyan University, Anton Nel of UT Austin, and other distinguished pianists. He enjoys accompanying other musicians, such as violin and oboe, and has recorded a musical collaboration with the worship team at his church. Matthew is homeschooled (7th grade), and in his free time, he enjoys sharing piano music at nursing homes across Texas, performing house concerts for neighbors and friends, learning new languages, mixed martial arts training (3rd degree brown belt), hiking in the woods, cartography, Python coding, and video games.
