Michael Krause, USA (Chief Investment Officer, Counterpoint Funds)
Concerto: Mozart Concerto No. 15 in B-flat major, K. 450 (I. Allegro maestoso)

Michael Krause started out in Cleveland with a brief stint as a tech entrepreneur, building an Internet service provider at the age of 14 and exiting with a sale of the business 5 years later. In his collegiate years, he decided to focus his efforts on developing his first love, piano. He ended up as a music student at Yale University, and spent his energies studying piano with renowned pianists Seymour Bernstein and Sergei Babayan. Moving to San Diego after this period of musical obsession, he built a career in investment management, founding Counterpoint Funds.

Over the years, his musical obsession has persisted, and he has enjoyed performing and collaborating with other local musicians on various chamber music and solo piano works. In 2022, as a semifinalist in the San Diego International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, he performed works of Chopin and Rachmaninoff. Michael currently lives in San Diego with his wife Ines (a pianist), and two children Natalie (cello) and Glenn (violin). Michael’s fingers are crossed for the eventual creation of a family piano trio.
