Sean Sutherland, Canada (Production Manager, TradeCafé)
Concerto: Mozart Concerto No. 27 in B-flat major, K.595 (I. Allegro)

Born in St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Sean discovered the piano as a child and began formal studies at age 7. However, limited opportunities for advanced piano studies there curtailed Sean’s development, after he, at 15, declined a scholarship to study piano the Royal Academy of Music (UK). Nevertheless, Sean resumed at MIT while pursuing undergraduate degrees in engineering and music. Sean subsequently earned an MBA at McGill and an MA in Education at Stanford.

Although Sean currently works as a Product Manager in Toronto, he continues to pursue his passion for classical piano and has performed solo recitals in the US, Canada, Germany, and throughout the Caribbean. He has also performed concertos with traditional and steelpan (drum) orchestras. Sean has been performing creditably on the amateur piano competition circuit, most recently winning the first prize at the Chopin Amateur Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2021.
