Gorden Cheng

Gorden Cheng is a classical concert pianist and information security architect, living in San Diego, California. Taking private lessons only, he is a top prize winner of many amateur piano competitions from Paris, Warsaw, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC, and Colorado Springs. His mentors include Yifan Liu, Dr. Robert Xavier Rodriguez, Rinna Livshin, Katherin Dvoskin, and Vitali Margulis.

Born in Chongqing, China, Cheng immigrated with his family to the US in 1986 and started piano at age 8. Initially settling in New York and Pennsylvania, the Cheng family moved to Dallas for 8 years and finally San Diego in 2003. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas and an MBA from Western Governors University as well as many cybersecurity certifications: CISSP, ISSAP, CSSLP, CCSP, CISM, CISA, and CRISC. In 2023, almost 20 years later after graduating from UT Dallas, he received a Distinguished Alumni Award from his alma mater for his achievements in his career and music.

Professionally, as the Deputy Corporate Security Architect for Oracle Corporation, Cheng provides oversight and information assurance on products and services focusing on security architecture and design for hybrid cloud solutions, and risk management for all lines of businesses and acquisitions at Oracle. He also chairs the cryptography governance board which sets corporate wide standards in the use of transport layer security, public key infrastructure, cryptographic protocols and functions.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing concerts, hacking hardware & software, drinking boba with his wife, Judy, and playing Counter-Strike and Starcraft with his two sons Alex and Jamie.
