Kayoko Komatsubara

Kayoko is an adult piano student/piano enthusiast, and an organizer of a bi-monthly piano group “Piano Salon” for pianists (both amateur and professional) and chamber musicians in Indianapolis, IN since 2023. She is interested in inspiring and encouraging amateur pianists by showing what an ordinary person (herself) can achieve over the years if keep trying. 

Returned to a regular piano lesson in the fall of 2015 after 20+ years of break, and currently studies with Dr. Kate Boyd as her private piano student in Indianapolis, IN. 

Participating in the Piano Texas 2024 as the first time made her a large impact; a vast connection with other fellow pianists and opportunities to play each other, attend events and pursue pianistic development together, and a surprise of being selected as the alternate winner in the Teachers/Amateurs division concerto competition. Being inspired by fellow pianists, Kayoko will pursue a Musicology degree at Butler University starting this fall semester. She is also working toward RCM ARCT Piano Performance Diploma.
