
Born in Japan, Ai Sato moved to the United States at the age of thirteen. She studied piano at Indiana University Bloomington, where she earned both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Following a summer program in Moscow, she continued her studies privately in Baltimore, Maryland for several years.
Early in her development, she appeared as a soloist with festival orchestras in Europe, performing concertos by Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, and Liszt, and performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with an orchestra in Asia. Her distinctions include a recital prize at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., and a Fauré Special Mention at the IBLA Grand Prize in Sicily.
After a period focused on family and personal well-being, she resumed intensive piano study in 2025.
She maintains a private piano studio working primarily with children in the Washington, D.C. area.
