Born in Tokyo, Asako grew up playing piano for school choirs, tenor saxophone in a school band and cello in a school orchestra. She also led stage productions for high school opera and musical shows.
At the age of 16, she fully re-focused herself to study for her college entrance exams. After
obtaining a BA in Economics from the University of Tokyo, she joined Morgan Stanley as an analyst. After obtaining an MBA from Booth School of Business, she joined McKinsey and built her strategy consulting career. She lived and worked in many cities in Japan, US, China and Europe.
After 26 years of hiatus, she bought her Yamaha grand at the end of 2013 and started playing piano again. In 2020 during COVID lockdown, she decided to completely retire. Now she enjoys playing piano, watching operas, making ceramic arts, gardening, cooking, and traveling.
Asako participated in PianoTexas 2025 as Active Observer. She is studying piano with Igor Resnianski since then.
