Miho Fisher is a collaborative pianist from Japan, serving as a staff pianist at Oklahoma Christian University. Miho participated in the TCU-Cliburn Piano Institute (now PianoTexas) Amateur Program and the First Cliburn Amateur Competition (IPCOA) in 1999 as a pediatric cardiologist. It was a life-changing event for her because it made her realize how much music really meant to her. She also met her future husband, a fellow competitor of the competition, Greg Fisher. The Fishers returned to IPCOA several times, and Miho became a semifinalist and was awarded the Best Performance of a Modern Work at the Fourth IPCOA in 2004.
Miho retired from practicing medicine and went back to school to study piano at the University of North Texas (UNT) under Dr. Steven Harlos, then at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) under Valery Kuleshov, the 1993 Cliburn Silver Medalist. Since the completion of her Bachelor and Master of Music in Piano Performance under Mastro Kuleshov, Miho has been an active performer of both solo and collaborative works, appearing in the UCO Faculty Artist Concert Series, CollabFest at UNT, among others. She is a pianist of the Oklahoma Community Orchestra and the woodwind chamber ensemble Eclipse; and serves as a company pianist at the Oklahoma City Ballet. Most recently she was awarded the Third Place Prize Winner of the 2022 International Collaborative Piano Competition held online by the Puerto Rico Center for Collaborative Piano.
A sought-after piano accompanist in the OKC metro area, Miho teaches piano as an adjunct faculty at Oklahoma Christian University as well as privately. She enjoys working with aspiring young musicians and sharing the joy of music-making through teaching and coaching. Miho lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with her husband, Greg and two dogs, Tao and Simba.
