Joann Oh

Joann Oh

Born in Los Angeles, Joann Oh earned degrees in German studies and pre-med at Pomona College (Claremont, California) and Wesleyan University (Middletown, Connecticut). She is the winner of the Elizabeth Tishler prize in piano and a grant recipient of the Yale-Griffith Scholarship to study music and language in Vienna and Munich; in Vienna, she studied piano with Rosario Marciano. Currently, Ms. Oh is studying piano from Michael Berkovsky, and also studied with Steven Vanhauwaert. On January 20, 2019, Ms. Oh will be performing Grieg Piano Concerto with the West Valley Orchestra in San Jose, CA. This Summer 2018, Ms. Oh participated in the 3rd International Hans von Buelow Piano Competition in Meiningen, Germany, Moments of Music Piano Competition in Los Angeles, CA, and also Piano Texas Festival in Fort Worth, TX. In Summer of 2017, Ms. Oh participated in a Music Festival in Basel, Switzerland, and also performed in Piano Texas Festival in Fort Worth, TX. In June 2016, Ms. Oh was chosen to perform in the Cliburn International Amateur competition in Fort Worth, TX. Also, during the summer of 2015-2019, Ms. Oh performed in recitals and masterclasses at Piano Texas, also held in Fort Worth,TX. Previously in 2015, Ms. Oh performed with orchestra in San Jose, CA with West Valley Orchestra. In addition to these honors, Ms. Oh was awarded a scholarship from the Korean-American Foundation for academic excellence. Ms. Oh resides in Orange County, California, In high school, Ms. Oh was a nationally ranked synchronized swimmer.
