Thomas Duis

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, pianist Thomas Duis studied in Weisbaden, Hannover and in Leeds. England. He won numerous prizes at International Competitions in Europe (ARD-Munich, Premio Tomassoni-Cologne, Gina Battista Viotti-Vercelli-Italy, Maria Callas-Athens, Greece, Australia (Sudney), South Africa (Unisa-Pretoria) and the USA (Maryland, Gina Bachauer-Utah). In 1986, he received the gold medal at the Arthur Rubinstein Master Competition in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Thomas Duis has given concerts worldwide and held recording contracts with EMI-Electrola, MDG, Capriccio, CPO Orfeo, Telos. Since 1994, he teaches in Granz, Austria and since 1998 in Saarbrücken, Germany. Some of his students have won prizes in international competitions and hold professorships at music universities. In 2007 Thomas Duis was awarded “Officier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques” by the French Government.
