Chelsea Ahn, piano The recipient of the Debut Atlantic Award for Musical Excellence, Chelsea Ahn was recently named a winner of the inaugural Robert W. and G. Ann Corcoran Concerto Competition, and performed the Beethoven Concerto no.1 under Maestra Tania Miller. Chelsea was also chosen to participate in summer studies at the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2022, as a scholarship student under Arie Vardi and Anton Nel. In summer 2021, she was one of nine pianists chosen to participate in the tuition-waived, John Perry Summer Academy. Chelsea has performed across Canada, United States and South Korea. Highlights include performances at Carnegie Hall, Harris Concert Hall, Steinway Piano Gallery, the Indian River Festival and L’été musical de Barachois, among others. Her orchestral debut with the Fredericton Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Richard Hornsby has led to engagements at the Fredericton Playhouse. Her accolades include first prizes at the VIVO International Competition, the NB Provincial Senior Piano Competition and the Enkor International Competition. Chelsea has been broadcast on the CBC and the Seoul Broadcasting System, and has done recordings for the COC noon-hour concert series and Koerner Hall’s “Music of My Life” series. She also received her ARCT Performance Diploma in 2020 with First Class Honours with Distinction. During summer months, she has participated in the Golandsky Institute and the Orford Summer Academy, both as a scholarship student. In addition, she has received tutelage from Robert McDonald, Ronan O’Hora, Jean Saulnier, John O’Conor, and Ana Maria Bottazzi. Since moving to Toronto five years ago, Chelsea studied at The Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy, and now studies at The Glenn Gould School under a full tuition scholarship in the studio of James Anagnoson and Li Wang. Aside from her piano studies, Chelsea also loves playing violin, viola and percussion in her spare time. After studying with Nadia Francavilla and Robert MacDonald, she served as concertmaster for the Fredericton Youth Orchestra for five years. She also has interests in fashion, nature and travelling.
