Nicole Yanzuo Liu (China)
Concerto: Tchaikovsky Concerto No.1 in B-flat minor, Op. 23
Born in China, Nicole Yanzuo Liu started playing the piano at the age of five. She moved to the United States at fourteen, while studying with Ignat Solzhenitsyn and Ching-Yun Hu. She was admitted to the Juilliard Pre-College division in 2018, where she studied with Matti Raekallio. Nicole is currently receiving her Bachelor of Music degree at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Julian Martin. Nicole is a prizewinner in numerous competitions, including first prize in the fourth Kawai Asia Piano Competition Dalian Division, first prize in the West Chester annual competition, and third prize in the 2018 Debut Piano Competition. She has appeared on stage in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Keiter Center for the Performing Arts, and Helen Corning Warden Theater. She was additionally invited to play at the WRTI radio station in Philadelphia, as a finalist in the Philadelphia International Piano Competition. Nicole has also performed in masterclasses for world-class pianists, including Gary Graffman, Jerome Lowenthal, Dang Thai Son, Victor Rosenbaum, and Alexander Korsantia. Nicole enjoys playing chamber music with her colleagues who share the same passion for music. As a member of Zephyr Piano Quartet, Nicole was selected to perform as part of the Gluck Community Service Fellowship, where Nicole and her ensemble perform interactive concerts in various health centers in New York City.
