Concerto: Tchaikovsky: Concerto No.1 in B-flat minor, Op. 23 

Yubo Deng was born on February 11, 2002. He began to study the piano performing at four years old and was awarded 2nd prize in the “Guangdong Sha De Cup” piano competition at 5. In 2011, he studied with Oleh Pavlov, a professor at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. Mr. Pavlov taught him a systematic Russian classic music curriculum, and he made huge progress after that.

At the age of 12, he was accepted by the Middle School Attached to the Xinghai Conservatory of Music with the highest piano performance score, studying with Ukraine pianist Prof. Galyna Popova, who is the professor at both “The Odessa National A.V. Nezhdanova Academy of Music” in Ukraine and “The Xinghai Conservatory of Music” in Guangzhou. He gave his first solo recital at 14 in the concert hall of Guangzhou Zhujiang Piano Center.

In 2021, Yubo graduated with a top score from the Middle School Attached to the Xinghai Conservatory of Music and received the Honor Graduate title. Also, he received offers from Julliard School, NEC, and Oberlin Conservatory of Music with a large number of scholarships in the same year. He is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Oberlin Conservatory under the tutelage of Prof. Dang Thai Son. Recently, Yubo was selected by the jury to participate in the final rounds of the 2023 Busoni Piano Competition.

During Yubo’s piano journey, he gained excellent opportunities for master classes with distinguished pianists and educators such as Prof. Douglas Humpherys, Prof. Mikhail Voskresensky, Prof. William Grant Naboré, Prof. Zhao Yi Dan, Prof. Zhe Tang, Prof. Ming Qiang Li, and received very high recognition. Also, he achieved top prizes in many competitions, including in Macao Piano Competition, Shanghai Piano Open Competition, “Liszt Memorial Prize” Hong Kong International Open Competition, American Classical Pianist International Piano Competition, Yamaha Music Scholarship Competition, and “Mauro Paolo Monopoli Prize” International Piano Competition.
