Aidan Purtell

Aidan Purtell is a nineteen-year-old student of Kathryn Brown studying at the Cleveland Institute of Music.  He previously studied with Italian pianist Roberto Plano at the Jacobs School of Music and with Professor Andreas Werz of CSU, Fresno.    He made his professional debut in January 2022 appearing on the Philip Lorenz International Keyboard Concert Series at Fresno State University.  

In addition to his regular studies, Aidan has had the privilege to perform for such noted pianists and pedagogues as Garrick Ohlsson, Julian Martin, Hung-Kuan Chen, Asaf Zohar, Tamás Ungár, Fabio Bidini, Gary Graffman, Jon Nakamatsu, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Antoinette Perry, Alexander Kobrin, Marek Szlezer, Vanessa Latarche, Konstantin Soukhovetski, and Marek Zebrowski.  

Aidan has been a participant in many prestigious summer festivals and competitions, including the Aspen Summer Festival, Małopolska Talent Academy in Łącko, Poland, PianoCleveland Institute and Festival, PianoTexas International Festival and Academy, the Philadelphia Young Pianists Academy, the Philadelphia International Piano Competition, the Oberlin Conservatory Summer Festival, and the Odyssiad International Piano Competition in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was also a finalist in the 2023 Ruth Monte National Bach Competition.  In 2022, Aidan was awarded first place at the 2022 MTNA Indiana State Piano Competition, First Place at the Music Teachers’ Association of California, Fresno Branch, Solo Piano Competition and third place at the Henry and Carol Zeiter Piano Competition. In 2021, he was awarded second place at the Paderewski Youth Piano Competition in Paso Robles, California.

Aidan has performed in various venues throughout the United States, Germany, and Poland, including at the Steinway Salon in Warsaw.
