Jianzhi Chen is a dedicated pianist and mathematician currently enrolled in the double degree program at Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he studies Piano Performance under Professor Haewon Song and pursues a second major in Mathematics.
Jianzhi has actively participated in internationally recognized music festivals. In 2024, he attended the Gijón International Piano Festival in Spain, where he performed in master classes led by esteemed artists including Robert McDonald, Ran Dank, James Giles, Logan Skelton, Douglas Humpherys, and Kotaro Fukuma.
He is also a three-time participant of the Vivace International Music Festival (2022–2024) in Wilmington, North Carolina. There, he had the opportunity to study with renowned pianists such as Alexander Kobrin, Thomas Sauer, Jerome Lowenthal, Jason Kwak, Yakov Kasman, Joseph Rackers, Dimitri Vorobiev, Alexander Braginsky, Sasha Starcevich, and Arthur Greene.
Jianzhi’s artistry has been recognized in competitions as well. He was a finalist in the Oberlin Peter Takács Beethoven Prize in Piano, and received fourth place in the Tuesday Musical Annual Scholarship Competition in Akron, Ohio (2024).
