Cleveland Classical.com: “His playing was amazing—strong, virtuosic, and appropriately mischievous.”
New York Concert Review: “Mercurial mood changes, extreme dynamics, and elements of atonality—young Mr. Wang was up to all of it!”
Critics' Point, Greece:“Wang is indeed a greatly gifted artist, with a warm, beautiful and often delicate sound. He was absolutely persuasive and at home in all works that he performed.”
Taige Wang, 15, is a Young Arts Winner with Distinction (2026), a Lang Lang International Music Foundation Young Scholar, and was named a Steinway Young Artist at the exceptional age of 13. He currently studies piano at The Juilliard School with Veda Kaplinsky. Taige began his piano journey at the age of four, giving his first public performance that same year. By age five, he performed live on China Central Television and won his first regional Steinway & Sons Competition. At age seven, he performed his first full solo recital at the invitation of Steinway & Sons.(Taige’s collaboration with Steinway & Sons reached new heights in 2025 through a series of exceptional engagements. On February 1, he performed a solo recital for the Lunar New Year Concert with Taige Wang live by Spiriocast from Steinway Hall, New York City, marking a historic first as the only minor invited to headline this global event. On October 12, he was again invited by the Future Young Steinway Artist Workshop to present a solo recital and Q&A session. This was followed by two marquee performances on October 20 and 21 for the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame in New York. These concerts were a resounding success; Taige not only delivered virtuosic performances but also engaged the audience with thoughtful and humorous introductions, earning high praise for his rare ability to combine masterful playing with mature, articulate stage presence.
Taige has won numerous piano competitions, including the Seattle International Piano Competition; the YAMAHA Piano E Competition; the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition; the Chicago International Music Competition, and the Rosalyn Tureck International Bach Piano Competition. At age 13, he made a particularly impressive showing as the youngest competitor to reach the quarterfinals of the preeminent Cliburn Junior Competition (ages 13–17) and to win third place at the formidable Thomas and Evon Cooper International Piano Competition (ages 13–18).
He has collaborated with leading symphony orchestras, most notably the world-renowned Cleveland Orchestra and the Aspen Festival Orchestra and has performed alongside acclaimed violinist Ray Chen. Taige has appeared on From the Top show in 2021 and at From The Top 2022 Gala, and has been featured on NPR, CBS, Poland and Hungary National Television. His performances have taken him to prestigious venues such as the Great Wall, Carnegie Hall, the Nixon Presidential Library Museum, Lincoln Center, Severance Hall, the Royal Palace of Gödöllő, and the Polish Heart Club, the latter in the presence and sponsorship of the Duke of Kent.
Taige also studies composition with Bruce Adolphe and is an award-winning composer whose portfolio features a series of high-profile commissions. This includes Chopin VS Chopin 2.0 (Piano Trio), which was premiered at Alice Tully Hall by members of the Calidore String Quartet and the composer himself for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. His creative output further includes the piano solo work Fantasy on Puccini’s Turandot, as well as four-hand arrangements of Die Fledermaus and La Traviata performed for WildAid at Asia Society. A cornerstone of his work is his collaboration with MusicON NYC at America’s National Opera Center. He premiered the NAN Trio there in 2024, followed by his 2025 Variations on a Theme from Bizet’s Carmen for Piano and Pipa, which was performed alongside Ms. Yang Jin, President of the Chinese Musicians Association of North America. Following these successes, Taige has been named MusicON NYC’s Resident Artist beginning in 2026. In this official capacity, he will fulfill a new annual commission and perform the opening solo recital at the Blanc Art Center in Manhattan in October 2026.
Combining his prowess as a performer and composer, Taige has further expanded his impact within the Lang Lang International Music Foundation (LLIMF). For the Foundation’s 2024 New York Gala, he was entrusted to craft the signature four-hand and six-hand piano arrangements while also directing the staging and rehearsal process for the Young Scholars. His multifaceted contributions earned high praise from Lang Lang, CEO Lukas Barwinski, and the gala audience. Following this success, Taige continued to fulfill these roles at the 2025 London Gala. Building on this ongoing achievement, he was commissioned once again to perform, arrange new works, and lead the staging and rehearsals for Young Scholars at the Foundation’s New York Gala in March 2026.
Taige is also a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award
