Joseph Yourong Cai

Joseph was born in July 2016 and is currently studying at the ISF Academy Primary School in Hong Kong. Since 2021, Joseph has become a junior music student at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), major in piano under the tutelage of Dr. Felix Chang Tao. 

Joseph was the winner of numerous piano competitions, including 1st Prize, Junior Exhibitioner Award (age 12 and under), the 76th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival 2024, 1st Prize, Junior Division (age 13 and under), HKGNA International Music Competition 2023, 1st Prize, Amateur Children Group B Final, Singapore Internatioanl Piano Compeition 2023 , 1st Prize, Children Category B Final, The V International Liszt Ferenc Competition (Hungary-Budapest) 2022, and 1st Prize, Piano Category A (age 10 and under), the 8th ENKOR Int'l Music Competition 2021

Joseph showcased his talent for the Chopin Society’s Joy of Music Festival ‘Young Talents Series 2022’ with his solo performance in Hong Kong City Hall. In July 2023 he made his concerto debut performance with the Zabrze Symphony Orchestra in Poland, and in February 2024 he cooperated with the International Youth Classical Orchestra and performed Mozart concerto in Hong Kong. 

During the past few years, Joseph has received master classes with Katarzyna Popowa-Zydron, Yoheved Kaplinsky, James Anagnoson, Kevin Kenner, Natalia Trull, Yong Hi Moon, Boris Slutsky, Tamas Ungar, Gabriel Kwok, Eleanor Wong, Meng-Chieh Liu, etc. 

Joseph also plays cello and composes his own pieces. Besides music, Joseph loves ice skating, swimming, reading, and traveling.
