Oliver Corro is in 11th grader at Irvington High School in Fremont CA. He started learning piano with his mother since he was 3 yrs old and he has been working with teacher John McCarthy since 2022 and Jed Galant since 2023. Oliver won many prizes including the 1st place in 2023 Reno-Tahoe Piano Competition, 2023 and 2024 USOMC (United States Open Music Competition), CAPMT (California Professional Music Teacher) contemporary competition and second prize in Berkeley Etude Club Competition, Napa Music in Vineyard, Ghiglieri Piano Competition, Gavilan College Youth Piano Competition, SF Artcial Piano Competition, Honorable Mention in the Pacific Music Society Music Competition, Zeiter Piano Competition and the Golden State Youth Orchestra and MTAC (Music Teachers Association of California) Concerto Competition. In July 2023, Oliver participated In John Perry Academy of Music in New Jersey and had master classes with John Perry, Mina Perry, Sasha Starcevich, Boris Slutsky, and Jean David Coen. In 2023 and 2024, he had master classes with Steven Spooner, Armen Babakhanian, Sharon Mann, Yoshikazu Nagai, Yiyan, Sonia Leung and Natsuki Fukasawa. Besides solo piano, he joins the piano quartet/trio and performs at the local concerts and events. Oliver was accepted to participate in the Tanglewood Piano Festival for July 2024. He speaks Japanese and Spanish fluently. He can play guitar and violin besides piano. He enjoys skateboarding when he has some free time.
