Taiyo Oishi, 15, was first introduced to the piano at the age of 6. Currently studying under Dr. Oksana Ejokina, he has recieved many accolades in competitions and festivals at regional, national, and international levels. He was most recently a winner in the 2024 Texas State International Piano Festival’s concerto competition, securing him an opportunity to perform with the Central Texas Philharmonic in June 2024. Oishi has performed with multiple orchestras including the Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra, Bellevue Symphony Orchestra, and the Bellevue Chamber Orchestra.
Oishi has been named winner in various competitions, including the 2024 Coeur d’Alene National Concerto Competition, 2023 Bellevue Symphony Concerto Competition, 2023 Russian Chamber Music Festival of Seattle, 2023 WSMTA Outstanding Artists Piano Competition, 2022 Seattle International Bach Festival, and the 2023 Pacific Northwest Piano Competition. He has also received accolades in the 2022 Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside, 2023/24 Chopin NW Festival, 2023 EMTA Scholarship Competition, 2024 Olympia Symphony Young Artist Competition, and the 2024 Seattle Young Artists Music Festival.
Oishi was a participant in the 2023 Vivace International Music Festival, where he received masterclasses from renowned pianists such as Alexander Kobrin, Robert Shannon, Dmitri Vorobiev, Haewon Song, and Yakov Kasman.
Apart from his music pursuits, Oishi is a sophomore at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, WA. He enjoys fishing, tennis, and volunteering in numerous music nonprofits. He also holds various leadership positions in clubs and organizations in his school.
