Huanyu Cao was born in 2002 in China. He started learning piano at the age of 4 and showed talent in music when he was young. He won many major prizes in domestic piano competitions including the Third Prize of the 62nd International GROTRIAN Piano Competition of Chinese regional and the Second Prize of the 21st Japan Piara Hamamatsu International Piano Competition of Chinese regional. In 2017 and 2018, Huanyu attended Imola Summer Piano Academy and Festival in Italy. In 2019, he participated in Steinway International Piano Preparatory Academy – Performance Intensive Program in Los Angeles, and performed Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21 with Orchestra Santa Monica in the Zipper Hall of the Colburn School. Huanyu has gaven performances across major cities in China, such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Xiamen, as well as overseas in Italy and the US. He also took lessons with Stefano Fiuzzi, Boris Petrushansky, Jin Ju, Kevin Kenner, Fabio Bidini, Richard Goode, Benjamin Pasternack, and Antoinette Perry. He is currently a student earning B.M. degree in Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University with Professor Alexander Shtarkman since 2021. Apart from music, Huanyu is a strong player of chess and holds a certificate of National Third Grade Sportsman in chess in China.
