At the age of four and a half, Yu started to study piano with Dr. Feng Wanyi from Tianjin Conservatory of China and Prof. Guan Changxin from Central Conservatory of China. She was a prize winner in the Haitai International Piano Competition, as well as China Youth Music Competition/Hummingbird Music Award where won the first prize in piano accompaniment and chamber music. In 2017 and 2018, she played and arranged music for chamber concerts held by her and her friends. In 2021, she was accepted by Biola University with both music and academic scholarships and began her studies with Li-shan Hung. In the same year, Yu started pursuing a minor degree in classical vocal performance. During the summer, Yu won first prize at Cremona International Music Academy and was invited to give a concerto performance in Museo del Violino in 2022. In 2023, she participated in the young artist category in the MTNA Piano Competition and was awarded an honorable mention. She has also had the honor to work with many influential musicians such as Ann Schein, Boris Berman, Mana Tokuno, and Till Fellner. Yu also loves chamber music and served as a pianist in church since 2010!
